About Mario's Peruvian & Seafood
Peruvian Food on Melrose Avenue
Mario's Peruvian & Seafood serves Peruvian home cooking from a strip-mall storefront at 5786 Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. Some regulars have been coming for more than a decade, served by the same waiters.
What to Order
Lomo saltado is the dish most tables order: strips of beef stir-fried with onions, tomatoes and cilantro, served with French fries and rice. The green ají sauce and the bread are sold as extras, and reviewers rave about both.
The seafood side of the menu has ceviche of fish, shrimp or mixed seafood, picante de mariscos, saltado de mariscos, jalea, and soups such as parihuela and chupe de camarones. The chicken dishes include tallarín saltado and arroz chaufa. Alfajores and flan are on the dessert list, and Inca Kola and chicha morada are on the drinks list. Portions are large.
Before You Go
